Check to see if youre getting fuel pressure to the rail. There should be a small cap on the fuel rail, screw it off and you should see a little schrader valve inside, thats where you hook up the pressure gauge. If youre not getting pressure to the rail, check your fuel pumps. There's 2 pumps, a pickup/sending unit in the tank, and a pressurizing pump on the frame under the drivers side. Take a multimeter and put the red lead to the positive terminal on the high pressure pump with the key turned ON and the black lead to a clean ground on the frame, no voltage means you arent getting any power from the relay or the crash switch was thrown. The fuel relay should be on the passenger side of the engine compartment, and the cut-off switch on the passenger side firewall above the floorboard. The red button on the switch should be down, if not, press it back down and try to start the truck. If it still won't start, go back to the relay and pumps. Let me know if you need more help.
- Why did my car start and die when put into gear? Now it won't start at all? It's a cold winter day (below zero) Car started right up! I let it run for about 2 minutes, I put it in gear and it just died. I figured it's cold out, not real surprising, but when I tried to start it again, it won't start! Turns over fine but engie won't start! Any ideas? 2003 Ford Taurus 3.0L
- I have a 99 ford ranger that won't start. What could be wrong with it? None of the lights work, lock buttons won't work, absolutely nothing works. I tried jumping it and that didn't work. The truck doesn't make the clicking noise when i try to start it. I know nothing about cars. I just want a general idea of what could be wrong. I don't like going to mechanics without a vague idea of what could be wrong. I've had mechanics do a lot of stuff that didn't need to be done and it costed way to much
- 99 ford ranger clicks once, but won't start what could be wrong? The truck was running fine, but the day before yesterday it wouldn't start. All the lights and stereo come on so its not the battery. When you turn the key it clicks once but doesn't start. All the plugs are new and the belts, and the transmission is new too.
