1999 ford ranger v6 3.0 interchangeable engines?
My ford ranger head gasket blow and I want to replace the engine now and I was wondering if there's other ford engines like the explorer or maybe the Taurus that I can use as a replacement my ford had a 1999 v6 3.0 engine 2 wheel drive. Are there any interchangeable engines that I can use as a replacement. I can't seem to find any similar ford ranger engines and if i do they are priced more than my truck is worth. Can someone please help and let me know if there are other makes on the ford product line that can be interchanged with that same year. Please be as detailed as possible.
You wouldn't be able to use a 3.0L out of a Taurus as it's transversely mounted since the Taurus is front wheel drive. The only RWD application the 3.0L was used in was the Ranger, Aerostar, and Mazda B3000. The 4.0L will fit, but the problem there's that the 4.0L came with a beefier transmission than the 3.0L models did and the extra torque from the 4.0L will break a 5R44E eventually.
Why don't you just replace the head gasket?
- Which car is the overall to keep for a couple of yrs? 1999 Nissan maxima, 1999 Altima, 2006 ford Taurus or 2002 buick lesabre? All of them have low mileage as the Taurus have 69000 and the maxima have the highest of 123000. They all under 1100 bucks.
- Ford Taurus 2004 driver side rear door replacement: are all model doors interchangeable? I need to get a door from the auto salvage yard and first need to find out if it matters if I get the door off of a SE or SEL or SES etc.
- What do you think of the 1983 - 88 Ford Ranger design w/the 2.0 - 2.3 Liter OHC (pinto) engines? I'm just wondering. I use to own an 84 model w/a 2.3L in it and it seems like an easy to fix and reliable truck so I want to purchase another one that I seen off the internet for like a 1,000 dollars.
- Are ford ranger body parts for a 4 cyl and v6 interchangeable? I have a 2004 ford ranger 2.3. I went to a salvage yard to get a hood for my truck since mine was really bent. The guy had one hood left and he said it should work. I put it on my truck but it would not close. I slammed it down and still would not close. The shape looks like it belongs to my truck but it just wouldn't close. All sales are final so i couldn't return the hood. I put the old hood back on and that one closes properly
