What happens when you hook up a battery backwards in a 87 Ford Mustang 2.3 L?
Nothing good, that's for sure.
1. How does somebody do that? It is nearly impossible. You would have to force the cables to reach in most cars.
2. It would very likely fry all electronics in the vehicle including the ECU, alternator, sensors, stereo, and probably some fusible links and fuses as well.
In short, the chances are greater than 90% the car is TOTALED due to the high cost of replacing all the electronics. It would be cheaper to get another car.

- I hooked up my car battery in my 2006 Ford Taurus, backwards. Damage? The car ran for two days, but on my way home from work it just died. The lights went dim and the car died. I can do minor work on my car. I've replaced the alternator before. Is that all it is?
