My mustang is starting to drive weird. Do these issues relate?

I have a 2013 ford mustang 3.7L v6 with performance package. I'm noticing a lot of things with the car. My first issue is when I accelerate from a complete stop or rolling stop I hear a thump that sounds like its under my feet. Sometimes its louder than others. Second when I accelerate hard at around 3k rpm I hear a ticking noise that sounds like its from the front. Also sometimes I hear that when accelerating from a stop while turning right I hear that the engine revs to 3k before actually accelerating. When I accelerate hard I smell a sulfur smell from exhaust. When braking it seems I have to push the pedal half way to get it to start to slow down. When I hit a pothole I sometimes hear a squeak. And sometimes when braking hard my steering wheel turns a tad but not majorly. The car has had a faulty control arm in the past, as well as a pinion seal leak at the rear. The steering wheel seems to be crooked when cruising at around 80 bit not by much. Do any of these issues relate to one problem? Would they affect the cars performance?

The thump could be a transmission mount or a universal joint / driveshaft problem. The 3K ticking could be one of many things. The engine revving up to 3K before moving is a slipping clutch or transmission or you are spinning the tires.

Sulfur smell indicates a too rich fuel mixture. Have you made any modifications to the engine?

The braking problems… I suggest inspecting the system and bleeding the fluid and see if that clears the excessive pedal travel and pulling during braking. Obviously, if the inspection finds something wrong (leaking fluid, worn pads) you need to fix that.

The steering wheel being off center is probably a simple problem. The alignment wasn't done properly, as the steering wheel should be centered by the shop before making any adjustments. I assume it isn't pulling to the side when your are driving straight. If it is, it could be related to your brake problems.

It's a 2013, some of those things may still be covered under warranty. The thump when you accelerate from a stop could be a U joint. You might need new brake pads. Do you do a lot of driving at 3000 rpm or higher?

  • Issues with 1998 ford ranger starting? MY car will randomly not start, i pop the hood and jiggle the negative wire and it will start to work. The cable is attaced tightly to the terminal, it's the wiring leading away from the terminal I have to jiggle. I was wondering if anyone could help me with identify the problem. • Is it weird that I think trucks are easier to drive than cars? I'm 17 and I've driven vehicles of different shapes and sizes. I recently noticed something a little strange. I got to drive a 2012 Ford F150 (after driving an Impala) and I noticed I had an easier time driving it. I usually drive a Ford Ranger and I think that's really easy to drive. If I drive a sedan, I have a hard time driving it. I actually learned to drive in a pickup truck. Is this weird that I have an easier time driving SUVs and pickups instead of a car?
