Cost of insurance for 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe V8?

I'm 16 and i just got my license. I have a job and i was looking for a car. My dad has a 1966 Ford Mustang V8 Coupe that he offered to give me and in mint condition. I was so happy. I was think of paying as much as i can of the insurance. Can you please tell me the price (estimate)? Don't feed me BS saying that shouldn't be your first car and all of that. Thats the only car I'm getting and the only car i want. All i need is the price and if its a good car.

Call your dad's insurance company and ASK. Simple.

There's no such thing as a estimate. It is all in where you live, how much insurance you want/need, even the insurance company, among other factors. The only way to get any kind of estimate is to see your insurance agent.

It will be several thousand a year! Most kids end up being added to their parents insurance because the parents are then kind of made cosigners to the agreement. In those cases They risk paying far higher rates if you make a claim until your 21. At that point They are not permitted to carry you and you must insure alone. They do pay a substantial amount for your insurance added too but less than you would.

We can't give you prices on things that we have no control over and that will be different for every single person!

If you want a number you will have to ask an actual insurance agent! Though DO NOT expect it to be cheap. I mean a MODERN mustang is expensive enough but when you're talking about a complete novice driver in what is essentially a 50yr old metal death trap! You could probably double or triple the cost.

The car may be cool, but lets face facts IT'S A WORSE CHOICE FOR A FIRST CAR THAN A MODERN MUSTANG! (and this is coming from a mustang owner BTW)

It has lousy handling, lousy MPG by modern standards, and has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in terms of safety measures past an aftermarket seatbelt. Assuming your parents want to pay the premiums (which will probably be EVEN HIGHER than a modern mustang) It goes without saying your lack of experience and possible immature need to show off could come back to bite you.

Cause if you wreck in this thing there's no airbags or crumple zones so the odds of bodily injury in a wreck are much higher than a more modern car. So if you wreck IT WILL HURT, and if you wreck bad YOU COULD BE KILLED!

And I'm serious about that! This is no time for childish and pathetic "I don't want to hear anything negative" BS cause as someone who's owned both classic and modern mustangs and has seen teens wreck bad first hand! I'm gonna tell you anyway!

YOU SHOULD GET SOMETHING ELSE that you don't mind banging up (cause you will inevitably hit something at that age and level of experience) and you should save cars like this for when you have a much higher chance of keeping them in mint condition and much lower insurance premiums.

But even if you're going to ignore me cause you think you are going to be a responsible driver and I'm just being negative and a broken record, But if you are absolutely set on getting this car you need to understand exactly what you're getting into
