2015 Mustang GT paddle shifters?

I own a 2015 Mustang GT automatic since its sports + mode actually shifts better than a manual driver would, but I realized that when on Drive and I activate the paddle shifters they don't stay on manual mode very long like 5 seconds only, what could be the cause? Is paddle shifting only possible on Sports mode or sports + and track mode? Its an insanely fast car on the Sports + and sports, is that why its duration is not long enough?

Thank you "automatic since its sports + mode actually shifts better than a manual driver "

More consistently? Yes. Better/faster? Debatable. With a conventional automatic, you get noticeably more driveline loss because the automatic transmission works off the principle of slippage (that's why it has 15 quarts of transmission fluid), whereas a manual or an automated manual (usually dual clutch types these days) have a direct mechanical connection and are therefore more efficient at transmitting power. But anyway…

It doesn't sound like you bothered to read your owner's manual because it addresses exactly what you are describing.

"SelectShift Automatic™ Transmission

Your SelectShift Automatic transmission gives you the ability to change gears manually.

"With your vehicle in drive (D), the paddle shifters provide temporary manual control. They allow you the ability to shift gears quickly, without taking your hands off the steering wheel. The system determines when temporary manual control is no longer in use and returns to automatic control.

You can achieve extensive manual control by moving the gearshift lever to the sport (S) position."

There's nothing wrong with your car. Hi so designed like that so want it changed go back to dealer and request it. Just a re-program of the software.

  • Paddle shifters in Ford mustang v6 automatic 2017? So, I just got this car and I'm not sure if its a good thing or bad to use paddle shifters. Will I get the instant pickup like manual transmission by putting car in Sport mode and putting the gear in D and doing gear shifts.
  • Is a 2015 ford mustang better or 2015 Chevy camaro? Hi, I've been wondering if I should get the 2015 ford mustang or Chevy camaro! They are both very similar but which one would be better and why! And is it possible to get any of those cars with automatic transmission instead of manual transmission?
  • 2015 Mustang GT or 2015 Mercedes C300? I will be getting a car soon, and I'm debating on which car I should get. A 2015 Ford Mustang GT Premium, or a 2015 Mercedes C300? NOTE: I will be tuning the car that I buy with aftermarket parts. I'm not sure, could you guys help me out? I'm also debating if I should use aftermarket parts on a Mercedes, which is brand new. (I will be turning 16 soon!)
  • 2015 Mustang GT or 2015 Mercedes C300? - 1 I will be getting a car for my 16th birthday, and I'm debating on which car I should buy. A 2015 Ford Mustang GT Premium, or a 2015 Mercedes C300? I'm aware that the two cars are in two completely different categories. NOTE: I'll be adding aftermarket parts to the vehicle I purchase.
