1966 Ford Mustang V8 Conversion Using 1968 Donor?
I have a 1966 factory straight 6 manual
using 1968 v8 donor all complete.
Is this a direct interchange for the main portion of the swap? Engine and trans, power steering, brake booster, and rear end?
Looks like I need to change the bottom crossmember as the 68 seem deeper and also the engine mount brackets.
Any tips or heads up appreaciated!
Added (1). Here is a list of what I have done.
Changed 4 to 5 lug disc with v8 spindles
changed rear end to 5 lug
all disc all around
Added (2). 1968 has a c4 transmission with a neutral safety switch, not sure how to connect with the 1966 ford mustang manual body as it never had the wiring for the switch.
If the cross member looks different, its likely the transmission type auto / manual that is the change. Not the year. Neural safety switch is only needed on automatics making it impossible to accidently start the car in gear. Later on the manual models had a safety switch on the clutch pedal to accomplish the same thing. Anytime you need to compare part numbers just enter your info at NAPA on-line to see if its a match.

- Ford ranger, 10 rear drum to disk conversion? How much work would it be too convert my rear drums to disks? I have a 99 ranger v6 4l. My drums are the 10". My where base is the bug one I'm pretty sure like 144" or 141". Where would I buy them? If I buy a kit do I have to always use the kit brand disks?

Anyone have any good references for repairing/restoring a 68 mustang with a straight six engine? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
- Is it worth buying a 1966 Ford Mustang? I have an offer to buy a 1966 Ford Mustang in jet black with chrome outlines for 11k. Is it worth it? Will the value increase if its a classic car? How much would insurance cost? It has 88k on the odometer.
