Looking into buying aluminum cylinder heads for my ford 302? - 1
Added (1). Can I use my stock rocker arms? The heads are a 3/8 stud. The max lift is 550 on the springs. My camshaft is a 474 lift if this helps.
Added (2). Looking to buy Flo tek heads or edelbrock E street heads
There are several different manufactures, so you would have to gather info on each to answer your questions, as each is different. It would seem to me that if you're going to top-drawer aluminum heads, you would also use full roller rockers on them. I have an set of Trick Flow heads on my 351W427 stroker in my '89 LX & they work very well…
I was actually looking into this the other day, browsing on forums… Sounds like the consensus with the E street heads is they went with some cheap standard components to keep the cost down, which may need to be upgraded. If you want a mild 300-350hp 302, they'd probably work fine. If you want 350-400+hp I'd consider the Edelbrock Performer RPM heads. Ford guys seem to love Trick Flow heads, but they are on the top end cost wise.
I can't say for sure but I would guess that you can since they're an "entry level" aluminum head. Contact Summit Racing Equipment and ask a tech question to be sure. I don't know if this translates to your Ford application or not but I have a set of E-street heads on a 408" small block Chevy (bored out 400) in a 1978 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4. I built the engine for low rpm torque with an Edelbrock "Rollin Thunder" retrofit roller cam and 9.5:1 compression. I used an Eagle bottom end kit, Edelbrock EPS intake and FAST ez efi with a goal of 400lbs/torque all in by 3500rpm. I put the engine on the dyno at a local shop and was very happy when they pulled 400+lbs from 2300 all the way to 4500 rpm and peak horsepower of about 430 @ 5500. I use the truck as a daily driver and to pull my race car trailer or girlfriend''s horse trailer nearly every weekend. I'm sure the heads have a big part in making those numbers. I have Summit roller rockers but I didn't have to use them.

- Replaced cylinder heads and head gaskets, but car is still overheating? 97 Ford Taurus, replaced the cylinder head and head gaskets. Car started fine and we let it run for a while before taking it out for a test drive. After about ten minutes the car started to overheat again, coolant came out and steam came from under hood. We also replaced the thermostat. What other possibilities are there?

- What Ford vehicles with a 302 motor comes with a 4 barrel carb (and only comes 302 with a 4bc)? I have a 1989 mustang gt motor and I'm making it carbureted and I'm looking for any vehicle with a 302 that carries a 4b. I'm going to a junkyard where they don't help with finding vehicles, so it would be helpful to know what vehicles only have a 302 with a 4bc, that way I can look it up on the website and know exactly where its at.
