Is a 2007 dodge caliber sxt a good car? Or an avenger?

I'm getting a new car this weekend. I have been searching around since last week and came across two car lots, one finances ( the one with the dodge avenger ) and one is a buy here pay here. ( dodge caliber ) out of my whole life ( i'm 21 ) i've had Two chevy impalas, a chrysler, and a ford 500. Which was all good cars not much work needed to be done at all. But now i'm looking for a new car I've always liked the dodge avenger and have been wanting one. But came past the Dodge Caliber and i like that as well it has many features great sound system etc i read alot about that. But was doing research on the caliber and read good and bad reviews on it. Some says its a good car some said it has too many problems had to replace too many things etc. I want to know which car would be better as far as maintenance wise, gas mileage wise, etc. I sure don't want to waste my money on something and have it break down along the road. I guess it just depends on how you take care of the car i'm guessing? Or does the dodge caliber sucks that bad?

I have had both of these cars. The Avenger we got from a different dealer however. The Caliber was nice and offered lots of room. It was pretty good on gas, but it was really good compared to our older cars. We did run into an issue with the wheel alignment which caused the steering wheel to shake. It ended up being caused by something so we had to return the car. The Avenger is fast and sports and also had great gas mileage. I would go with the Dodge Avenger.

Stay away from buy-here-pay-here dealers. They sell overpriced junky cars at super-high interest rates. Regardless of where you buy your car, get it inspected by a professional mechanic before you buy.

Both vehicles are EXTREMELY low quality. The Caliber was notorious for issues with the transmission, and the Avenger just had poor all around build quality. Neither of them is built anymore, and there's a reason for that. Stay away from either of these cars. Look at smething like a used Corolla or Camry, as you can realistically expect well over 150,000 miles out of them.

On a side note, something like a sound system should never be high up on your priority list when buying a used car. A stereo should be the LAST thing you should worry about on these two vehicles. Get your car inspected by a reputable mechanic before buying it. Ask about the reputation, as they would know.
