You really don't give enough information to help solve your problem. Is the Escort an automatic transmission, do you have daytime running lights? It makes a difference because each system is wired differently. You can start by checking all the fuses and circuit breakers in the engine compartment and instrument panel fuse boxes, then test for power at the components that are not working. If you have power at the component in question then check to make sure you have a good ground, if both are good then the component is at fault and will need to be replaced. If you have no power at a component then trace the circuit to the switch and check for power in and out of the switch. In the case of the blower motor there's a device called the fan speed resistor which often burn out rendering the fan inoperable, it is normally located close to the fan under the glove box. If you have daytime running lights, the daytime running lamp module and relay behind the right side of the inst. Cluster at the top of the cowl will also need to be tested.

What have the lights & stalks got to do with it?
It may be a fuse or a relay, or it may be the blower motor itself.

Soz my car dipped beam

Bean lights and stalks? Are you referring to a car or a fairy tale.

Stupid question. Have you checked the bulbs?
