How to replace the top idler pulley on a 2000 ford escort? - 1

Here I go again. Why are you asking about my mechanical repair skills? I'm not a trained nor licensed auto technician and I can't replace this pulley thing you mention. I do know that all brands of cars and all models of cars are proper names and must be capitalized. It seems American children with cars are determined NOT to capitalize proper names. After all, this is posted in the Ford section and not the "ford" section. Ford Escort is the proper English format. And please, stop asking me about fixing anything in cars.

The bolt that goes through the middle of the pulley is all that holds it to the engine.

  • If my power steering pump and pulley break, is there any other parts I may have to potentially replace? Last night when I was driving, my power steering pump busted and also broke my power steering pulley. I have a 2002 ford Taurus. In the process of the pulley breaking off, the serpentine belt came off. It is still on the car so I just have to re position it once the new pulley is on. My question is through this incident, could anything else have broken? I just did a bypass pulley for the AC compressor last week. And I also replaced the serpentine belt last week.
  • Do i need a pulley puller to remove my water pump pulley? I have a 1996 ford ranger v6 4.0 liter and i was wondering if i need a pulley puller to remove it and/or what other tools will i be needing. It doesn't seem too hard and it's right there so i think i'm capable. I replaced the serpentine belt but now i need to replace both. Also if anyone would be able to give me a link to a video or kind of give me the gist of replacing the pulley.
  • How to realign a misaligned a/c compressor pulley? I have a 1992 Ford F-150 with a 4.9 Liter in it and lately I have been having some belt issues. I figured out the cause was a misaligned pulley for the a/c compressor. I've checked a bunch of websites and forums and can't seem to find anything on how to do this or if it is even possible. Can someone just give me a brief run down on what I should do or steer me in the right direction?
  • Bad Belt Tensioner and Idler Pulley or Power Steering Pump? So I have a whine that goes with the RPM and I've seen a video on Youtube of a Ford f150 with a bad Idler Pulley and Belt Tensioner showing the exact same behavior. I'm considering just replacing those two things right now, my power steering pump seems to be functioning okay but has issues with binding at times; but it's never been hard to turn. He then replaced the Tensioner and Idler Pulley and the noise disappeared entirely.
