How to hook up a tachometer for a 1999 ford escort SE?

I need a detail (or semi-detailed) instructions on how to hook a tacho up for my car. It has a coil pack. Where and how do I hook the the up.

Again it is a 1999 Ford Escort SE, 2.0L engine automatic transmission

Added (1). Electronically Fuel injected

Get an alternator with a "W" terminal. Connect that to an electrically excited tachometer.

  • Which car is the overall to keep for a couple of yrs? 1999 Nissan maxima, 1999 Altima, 2006 ford Taurus or 2002 buick lesabre? All of them have low mileage as the Taurus have 69000 and the maxima have the highest of 123000. They all under 1100 bucks.
  • Is my tachometer too high? So recently I have been noticing that it takes a higher tachometer reading for my car to drive. I just got the fuel injectors cleaned/replaced at sears autocenter, and the acceleration seems better. However, my car takes about 2900 rpms to drive 65-75 on the highway, and that just seems too high, at least higher than it was. Is this an issue? How much does it affect fuel consumption? How do I go about fixing this issue? For reference, I drive a 2005 Ford Focus with 49,000 miles on it.
  • Will a 1993 ford f150 tachometer work in a 1996 ford f150? I have a 1996 ford f150 xl v8 automatic without a tachometer. I bought a 1993 instrument cluster with a tachometer. Will it be plug and play in my truck?
  • 1999 Ford Escort ZX 2 lost only key to ignition? I lost the only key to my car. I can remove the ignition switch without key. I will call lock Smith tomorrow but I'm 30 miles from the closest one. I was wondering what options I had or the corre t way to drill out my ignition cylinder so I can replace it with a New one.
