How to build 302 ford engine for a blower?

If your asking that, then you really need to go to a qualified mechanic then have them build your engine to whatever specs you want and can afford.

Go to your local speed shop with performance goals and budget. Way too much to go into here.

Unless you have a machine shop in your back yard, best leave that to the pros.

Pick a different motor.

I agree with the other opinions, go talk to a performance shop with your budget and they can lay it out for you. The big things you need to know are how much you are willing to spend, what type of blower, your power goals, an they will tell you what a realistic budget/expectations are.

If you want to stick with a ford, a 302 is a good engine to start with, but keep in mind not all 302s through the years were the same, and what you start with is going to dictate how far your budget will take you.

For example a 5.0 mustang engine from certain years will have forged pistons, and a bottom end that can handle a bit of boost from a mild blower. Earlier 302s will have cast pistons and will need more upgrades off the get-go even for a mild blower.

Go to forged pistons that will give you a compression ratio of around 8.5-1, use gt 500 heads for best air flow and greatly increase the cooling system capability. Not much more is necessary unless you are building a "super" hot engine to be used only for the drag strip. In that case have some pros do you a blueprint for your exact expectations.

  • Where does the boss 302 stand on on the ford engine line? Ford has alot of good engines and I read the boss 302 is a rear engine, they also say it's one of the biggest, and the 427 sohc is the biggest and most powerful so out of the boss 302, boss 429 (I think is the right number) and 427 sohc what would it be goijg from bigger and most powerful to lower engine you d use as a more standard engine? Also which engine would be best in a 1969 and even a 2011 or 2010 (if you wanted to put the same engine in an older and newer mustang.)
  • What Ford vehicles with a 302 motor comes with a 4 barrel carb (and only comes 302 with a 4bc)? I have a 1989 mustang gt motor and I'm making it carbureted and I'm looking for any vehicle with a 302 that carries a 4b. I'm going to a junkyard where they don't help with finding vehicles, so it would be helpful to know what vehicles only have a 302 with a 4bc, that way I can look it up on the website and know exactly where its at.
