How much could you buy an old Ford 427 engine for from a junk yard?
And they are at least 30 years old. Probably seized, any peripherals are junk by now. Plan on a full-strip rebuild. Say $100 from the yard, don't pay more.
You can buy it for the amount that the salvage yard thinks it is worth.
But it would depend greatly on the mileage of the vehicle it came from and if it is in running condition or not.
You going to find this in a junk yard good luck and good hunting
What do you want the engine for
If you know a salvage yard with a 427 that has a good block - please send me the address! (People were plucking those 40 years ago - don't imagine that there are (m)any left out there to be found.)
Not going to happen. And, figure at least ten grand for a good running one. Now, depending on what your plans are, you can stroke a 351 Windsor to 427, so you would have a real Ford 427 engine.
If you are willing to consider its more common stablemates the 390 and 428 you are slightly more likely to find something you can use. The Ford FE block series went out of production in 1976. One of the most popular applications actually was as a boat motor, because it is light for its size, so you might also be looking in a junk boatyard for a ski boat from the late '60s or early '70s.
