What is the average lifespan in miles on a Ford Fusion?

I'm looking into buying a 2012 ford fusion with 119,000 miles already on it.

There's no such figure. Maintain a car well, and it can last for a great many kilometers, and maintain it poorly and it will die an early death.

That's why it's a very good idea to always get a used car checked out by an independent mechanic before putting in an offer on it.

The average would be found by taking a large number of those cars and totalling up the miles and then dividing that by the number in the sample - no one has the access to the information to do that

The current industry standard for the lifespan goal on passenger cars/trucks is 150,000 miles before major repairs start to become necessary to keep the car on the road. That engineering goal is based on the assumptions that routine maintenance is performed on schedule and that the car isn't subjected to frequent "severe duty" use.

You can probably expect to get at least 150K miles out of it IF AND ONLY IF it was well maintained, any mechanical problems it did have were resolved quickly and properly, and if it wasn't driven by a lead footed lunatic or used as a taxi, or seriously damaged in a crash etc. If it has any existing problems or if it wasn't maintained or treated well, expect major problems sooner than 150K miles. If it led an easy life and was well maintained, you might get significantly more than 150K miles out of it before it needs anything major. Unless you know the history (or can find someone who can deduce it from the current condition of the vehicle) there's no real way to know how long it will last.

No such number. Any car's useful life is determined by several factors, which can be different for every car, even those of the same make, model, age, and mileage. No two used cars are alike.

In general, modern automobiles are extremely reliable. If they are properly and fully serviced and maintained they can easily last 200k miles and beyond.

If the seller of the Ford can show you proof of all complete service and maintenance records the Fusion has great potential for you.

It is hard to say. Most of them are still alive since the first Ford Fusion came out in 2007, which was not so along ago. Most cars made in 2007 are still on the road today. All modern cars can easily make it to 200,000 miles with regular maintenance. And at very high mileage, some people are not willing to pay the high prices of replacing a head gasket for $800 or a transmission for $1000, or the suspension and bearings for $1500, so they junk the car and pay $20,000+ for a new car to save money on repair costs. Makes sense, right?

I have seen many cars with over 400,000 miles and even drove a few myself. A 1966 Volvo holds the world record for 3 million miles traveled, on the original engine. Cars can go on for your entire life if you don't give up on them.

I'm confident your Ford will go over 200,000 miles assuming it was maintained regularly.

180kilometers is design life of most mass produced cars. Many factors affect a life span of a vehicle. Driver abuse? Poor servicing? Using near sea ( salt). Weather. Terrain etc
assuming serviced regularly and driven normally and used in territories it was designed for ( not antartica for example) it ought to easily meet its design target.
vehicles used on long trips as opposed to stop start multi journeys ( more wear etc) can last well beyond anticipated lifespan. There's a volvo car now exceeding over 500,000 miles still is use. An old rolls royce with same etc how ever as is normal there are so many factors that can have an effect e.g. Cam belt? Metal impurities etc that can seriously suddenly impact of out cars. Guide will be used car report from media that give overall data we can decide with such as reliability.
