What car options for commuter in 9-12k range?
I currently own a ford fusion valued at around 12-16k, depending upon whether i trade in or do private party. I really like it for the most part, but the mileage is awful (6 cylinder AWD). It's rated at 24 highway but even with most of my driving being highway, i get closer to 21-22.
I'm considering trading down/laterally into something with better mileage. Maybe in the 35+ highway area. I'd prefer not to go with any models older than 2010, as my goal is to stick w. My car until i pay off my student loans ~3 years from now. Anyone have any good suggestions for sedans in that price range? I'm considering picking up a consumer reports subscription but thought i might see if anyone knows any good options off the cuff.
You will always lose money when you trade through a dealer, typically between $3,000 and $5,000 at least. That's true even if you trade down far enough to leave with cash in your hand from the dealer when the deal is done.
Before doing anything, consider how long it is going to take to recoup your losses in lower fuel costs. Unless you are putting a lot of miles on your current ride, you might be shocked to learn now long it will take to actually save any real dollars.
- Where can I buy a transmission range sensor for a 1999 Ford Contour? I need a new transmission range sensor for my 1999 Ford Contour 2.0L 4cyl automatic but I can't seem to find them anywhere. I really don't want to take it into the shop and pay over $100 for it when I can buy it and replace it myself. If you could please paste links that have it or stores that have that brand please let me know. It would be such a simple fix if I was actually able to find one.
- What will take you to buy a all electric car. What minimum range would you like? I'm looking at the Detroit car show and gm and ford are really pushing electric and self driving cars. I'm wondering how most people will pay for one of these cars.
- What are my options when my car lease is up? I leased a car through ford for 2 years. It has been a year now and I'm looking into my options for when it is up. I would like to get a new truck so can I take my leased car to a different dealership and trade it in as a trade in? If not what are my options
- Estimated range of miles on my car go up and down in seconds? I have a 2009 Altima 2.5 and one minute it says I have 30 miles left to drive and another second it says 14 miles left then it goes to 21 all in seconds. Can someone explain to me what's wrong with my car? I'm sure this car isn't supposed to waste that much gas, unfortunately it feels like I'm Illinois up the tank for a Ford Expidition instead.
