What's wrong with my 04 ford focus?
I have a 2004 ford focus that until recently was the best car i've owned. It just passed 75,000 miles and suddenly little things are happening. The check engine and battery light are dimly lit and stay lit when the car is off. It wouldnt start one day.changed plugs and wires basic maintnence battery is new and bam started right up. Now all my lights are lighting up and stayin lit on my instrument panel even when the car is off. Open door, check engine, battery, oil light and airbag close door and lock and lights stay on. Worried about killing the battery. I think it could b electrical which i'm not equipped to handle nor would i like to handle. Any tips would b awesome
Likely a ground has come loose somewhere. You need to take it into an auto electrical shop. NOT the dealer as they will charge you a fortune.
I have a 2004 Focus SE Wagon with 117,000 mile son it. So far, so good. I have the PZEV 2.3L engine with timing chain.
It is electrical. With the key out of the ignition, the battery dash light and the check engine light should not be on. Disconnect the battery cable when you stop the car (to prevent an electrical fire). Maybe a rat gnawed some wires. Could be just the ignition switch. You need to pull the OBD 2 codes (Advance, Autozone, etc. Will do it free).
I would take it to the dealership where they have an electrical specialist that is trained by Ford for these problems and deals with them daily. You pay by the actual time for electrical usually with a minimum charge…
I could site dozens of my real examples from our fleet but a personal example… Years ago my Volvo had starter wiring short so I had it towed to the electrical shop…$450 and days later I'm good to for about a year then AC problems and I see bare wiring… I take it to the dealer they tell me they just change the complete engine wiring harness… This insulation just starts cracking off as they age… Complete new factory harness installed… Just over $500 it was done that afternoon… That harness went to starter alternator, AC, distributor etc… Everything on the engine from the firewall…
- What's wrong with my temperature system in my ford focus 2010? See details? So I was driving for about 20 minutes and my temperature gauge was on cold still for some reason. Then all of a sudden my temperature warning light turns on, and persists for about 10 minutes. Then the temperature light turns off, and my gauge moves from cold to right before the middle. Is it a faulty sensor? Or could my car be overheating within 20 minutes of driving? I have a ford focus 2010.
- What's wrong with my Ford Focus? It turns off at every stop! A mechanic checked his comp and said no errors It just turns off. A friend changed my burnt sparkler cables, my spark plugs, my fuel filter and other stuff, but he can't seem to find what's wrong with it. Is there something else wrong with it? When a mechanic hooked it up to a comp to check to see what's wrong with it, nothing came up since the check engine light isn't on. What's up with the car? It's a 2000 Ford Focus SE.
- What's wrong with my ford focus at clutch? The other day I drove my bros Honda civic si I noticed his clutch was different, when I press it all the way down it was not so deeb compare to my ford focus st it's much more deeb. Could it be my st clutch is deeb because its getting old and wearing off? Or it's the way ford built it? If it's the way ford built it what after market kit I can use to change it? St
- Ford Focus - Do you know anyone who owns this Particular Ford Focus? Do you know anyone who owns the 2011- Ford Focus 1.6 ti-vct (petrol) 105bhp version? I own this car and find that it's performance on hills is poor even allowing that it is 100kg heavier than the 1998-2004 Ford Focus. E.g. On a hill in 3rd gear with the engine at 1500-2000rpm it can struggle even when my foot is 3/4 down on the accelerator pedal. Has anyone else had this trouble or heard about it with this model?
