What happened with my 2000 Ford focus?

So after driving on the highway at roughly 65 to 70 mph for an hr my 2000 Ford focus started spudering, losing power "but trying to still go", and the rpms were bouncing so I pull over and before I even have a chance to put in in park it stalls out… After looking under the hood and not being able to figure it out we decided to try again and once I slowly got up to about 55 it started again and again it stalled before I could put it in park so after limping to a parking lot and spending 2 hrs on the phone with no luck for help we try again and then it was fine for the rest of the drive " another 40 or so min" the auto shop I talked to couldn't tell me anything due to the fact that they couldn't re create the issue but said it may have been a glitch with a sensor…"so helpful…" Now its been 3 months since then and the car has been normal aside for a small episode on the highway around here once for like 5 to 10 sec before being fine… But we want to make the same trip in a month but I'm nervous it will happen again and still have no clue what happened…

Could be almost anything from bad gas, water in the gas, a glitch in one of the sensors or computers, or…
Without it actually happening again, there's no way you can do anything to help prevent it.

Sounds like its starving for fuel, but afte rit sits, its able to repressurize a bit. I would first check the fuel filter, then fuel pump.
