My headlights aren't turning on?

I've had so many problems with my 2001 Ford Focus se. The turn signals have always not always worked here and there. But I go to leave at night and turn my lights on and my dashlights turn on but not my headlights. My parking lights are on and no matter how many times I flicked it on and off the lights still didn't turn on. I don't think there's a fuse for the headlights on my car & I swear I just changed the bulbs recently too. Any idea what the problem is and about how much it'll cost to fix it?

Get a new car, thats a sign that you need a new car

Replace the switch assembly in the steering column.

The car might have a light control module installed. These are known for a relay inside the module to go bad and cause problems with the headlights. The turn signals might also be tied into this module which might be affecting them. I know on crown vics/grand marquis, and even F150s, there's a module, but not sure on Focuses, but it's worth looking into.

Yes, this is clearly the turn signal switch/headlights/brights/ etc. So, get it replaced and we won't see you anymore. Its a big job too. I hate them!

There's a fuse. Actually there are 5 fuses (or 6, with DRL). There could be a problem with the wiring. There could be a problem with the headlight switch or connector. There could be a problem with the multifunction (high-low beam selector) switch. There's a low beam relay and there's a high beam relay. There could be a problem with the low beam relay. Your car may have DRL (daytime running lamps). It's an option. There's a DRL unit and a DRL relay and a DRL fuse. I would start by swapping the low beam relay with the high beam relay. If the lights work, just buy a new relay and put it in the low beam socket, and put the old high beam relay back where it came from.

F61 is a 7.5 amp fuse, located in the Central Junction Box
F16, F17, F26, F27 are 10 amp fuses (one for each headlight filament), located in the Battery Junction Box.
F22 is a 20 amp fuse, for the DRL, located in the Battery Junction Box.

The Central Junction Box is located behind the dash panel on the left hand side.

The Battery Junction Box is located in the engine compartment in the rear, on the left hand side. It's full of fuses and relays. I have the diagram here, but have no way to post it.
The low beam relay is identified as K36, but is called C1006 in the Battery Junction Box.
The high beam relay is identified as K37, but is called C1005 in the Battery Junction Box.

I'm having the same prob… Fuses.bulbs okay… Suspect relay. Or aftermarket DRL module Ford is rumoured to have to have installed to meet new Fed Regs for Day Running Lights… Cars had already been shipped… The wiring looks awful… Others suspect light switch at dash. Will see.

  • Why aren't my Windows rolling up in 1995 Ford Taurus? I have a 1995 Ford Taurus Gl and the driver side window will not roll up it will roll down all day but will not roll up. I'm a pretty good at working on cars and have checked fuses even the window switch and motor and all of it is still showing the same problem it will only work one way. Is there a short in my wiring?
  • Aren't you amazed by the capabilities and the size of today's full-size pickup trucks? I drive a 2011 Ford Ranger XLT 4x2 with a 4.0 liter V6 (~245 ci.) engine. I was looking up the specs for early-mid 1960s F100s (considered full-size), and they have nearly the same GVWR, towing capacity, payload, horsepower, wheelbase, and height as my "compact" truck. In your opinion, do you think today's full-size trucks are amazing or too fancy/over-sized (a traditionalist like me)? P.S.: I like all American vehicles
  • Why are my headlights not working? My headlights are not working on my ford KA (04 plate). I have main beam, side lights and indicators. I have changed the fuses and indicator stalk but still have the same problem. I'm 99.9% certain it is not both bulbs and to be honest I'm struggling to get my hands in to get them out.
  • How come Sen. Warren had to provide evidence of her past, while Dr. Ford didn't? Aren't we supposed to believe all women no matter what? Isn't physical evidence supposed to be a lower form of proof than a woman's testimony? Couldn't Sen. Warren just have cried a lot in a little-girl voice to prove she's part Native American? It's hilarious that libs can't answer this.
