Is Seafoam the reason why my car is shifting funny?

About 6 months ago a not-so-close friend of mine (we get along its just we don't hang out unless hes working on my car) did an oil change for me on my 02 ford focus and suggested Seafoam for my car. This was the second time he suggested using it, the first time was a hit when we mixed some of it with my gasoline. My engine ran a little smother it felt like. This time he said you can mix it in with the oil and i figured why not since it worked so well last time. A couple days after and ever since my car has been getting worse with the way it shifts gears. My car seems as if it lost power because when i step on the gas it doesn't get up to speed as quickly and sometimes i have to press down on it with a little muscle and then it will slam into 3rd gear. It also will look as if its going into fourth gear when i give it some gas when its really going into second. Any clues to what is going on?

Sounds like your transmission is going south take it to a certified transmission shop and get it checked out

Did you bother to read the directions on the can? When you add it to your oil, it is a little more involved than just dumping it in.

  • Truck heater giving off funny smell? Have a 1990 Ford truck. When I use the heater it gives off a funny odor. It smells like a mix of old car that has been sitting and old oil. Any ideas on what it may be?
  • How to add seafoam through the vacuum line in a 2012 Ford Focus 2.0 L Duratec Ti-VCT I4 GDI? I can find nothing for a modern Ford Focus all I find is ztech crap and focus from last gen. There seems to be no info really on the third generation to present focus. Where is the vacuum line that I would put seafoam in it was so much easier on my cobalt?
  • Why does my engine rev up while shifting my 5 speed 99 Ford Escort SE Sport? So, while driving, after some time, my car will rev on its own. Even without being in neutral it gives the engine fuel, but when I shift I can hear it clearly rev up. It isn't my throttle cable as I have debugged that. Also, whenever I'm driving, if I turn my keys to turn the car off and on, it stops having the rev problem for a little while. I'm not sure if this means that it is a sensor is the problem or not. Any info will help.
