Is my mechanic ripping me off?
I took my 2005 mk2 Ford Focus 1.4 to the local garage the other day to get the engine looked at as it's making a knocking noise.
He first of all told me that the engine sounds so unhealthy that it's on it's way out, so he looked at it and told me that the hydraulic tappets are warn out and need replacing. He then told me it will be £800 to replace all of them.
They are a good garage done get me wrong, fixed my parent's cars fine without problems, but I've been doing a bit of research and something just doesn't seem right.
The car is going back on the 13th July to get fixed, is it worth it or am I being ripped off?
As Percyqted says, WE haven''t seen the car. The only way to get a VALID second opinion is to have a different mechanic actually look at the car. Any decent mechanic will do a vehicle inspection for no more than whatever their labor rate is for one hour.
How many miles? Have you done regular oil changes in the past? Did it overheat or run low on oil before this happened?
- My Ford Transit headlights turn on in off position and turn off in the on position? I'm a new driver, just passed my test. My van has some issue with the lights: namely, the lights turn off in the on position when the dash lights come on, and turn on when they are supposed to be off. This means that I'm driving at night without dash lights as I need to have the lights switched off in order for my headlights to be on. Might this be an electrical issue? Would anybody be able to give me advice and possibly know how much this costs to repair?
- Is the mechanic right or is he wrong? Had to put a engine in my ford another 4.6 I had to change the throttle body all 4 O2 sensors MAF sensor EGR valve and the injectors. I think my catalytic converters are clogged cause I lost all power driving it and my valves rattle too could that be it or is the mechanic right on me needing a engine due to the " so called EGR valve" being stuck open and burning my cylinders up? Need to know!
- What's wrong with my Ford Focus? It turns off at every stop! A mechanic checked his comp and said no errors It just turns off. A friend changed my burnt sparkler cables, my spark plugs, my fuel filter and other stuff, but he can't seem to find what's wrong with it. Is there something else wrong with it? When a mechanic hooked it up to a comp to check to see what's wrong with it, nothing came up since the check engine light isn't on. What's up with the car? It's a 2000 Ford Focus SE.
- Owner of 2003 ford focus, car keeps needing a jump. Last time I did when the cables came off the car shut off? The car lasted a couple of days the last time I jumped it. I believe It's just my battery but how would I know it has anything to do with my accelerator as well?
