I rear ended someone, how long will my car be in the repair shop?

HI. I'm 17 and today I stupidly rear ended someone at a red light i thought was green. We exchanged licenses and insurance and are going to file insurance claims. Nobody is hurt, and his bumper was a little damage but most of the damage is done to my car (2013 Ford Focus SE) The hood is smashed up, the bumper and front end all need new parts, the headlights work but are loose, and also the engine runs fine, I was able to drive it home (10 miles) without any issues. I'm going to file a claim and hopefully get my car repaired… How long does it usually take to get fixed?

Couple weeks bud

Hi this will depend on how long it takes the body shop to do the job so ask them it really is that simple.

There's no "usually". There's only what the body repair shop estimates.

The total time can be affected by how long it takes your insurer to approve the claim, how long it takes before the car gets to the repair shop, how long the parts take to arrive (most of those on a common car like yours will be 24-48 hours), how busy the workshop is, and whether the underlying body shell needs major repairs or not.

If the repair shop gets everything it needs in good time and there are no bottlenecks in the process (such as paint booths being fully booked or even out of action) you're looking at a bare minimum of one working week from the date the repair shop gets the car; insurance company red-tape could delay that by a week. It could all be longer.

Depends on when insurer O'K's the work shop gets the parts in repairs the car and also depends on how busy the shop is. Shop will give you an idea on how long

Odds are 1-2 weeks. The car is a popular model so the parts should be in this week. Ours had a similar level of damage and was in about a week and a half.
