Do I really need a synthetic for a 2016 ford focus? - 1
No, it is not a must it is simply recommended. You are totally fine using conventional oil as long as you are diligent with the oil change schedule.
Synthetic lasts longer and for newer cars it runs better.
You can use either conventional or synthetic as long as you use the exact weight Ford recommends. On the 2.0 Liter Turbocharged EcoBoost I4 you need to use SAE 5W-30. On the 2.0 Liter Ti-VCT FFV use SAE 5W-20.
Engine manufacturers spend millions testing and developing the units and do use different oils. Therefore the recommendation is valid. We can use alternatives of course and many are cheaper. However it is not always ideal and some oils can allow wear rates etc in excess of normal. Fully synthetic.semi etc all have arguments for and against. For sake of a few dollars extra I would stick with Fords oil and more importantly for any oil.car etc is the servicing periods need to be adhered to.
running past these periods can and does lead to issues long term. Saving a few cents here and there can lead to many bucks needing spending later. So avoid false economy. Unless we're confident of oils.engines etc or have access to such knowledge e.g. Car clubs.racing teams etc where oils are subject to much scrutiny.
I doubt it. Just make sure you change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles if you use conventional motor oil.
If you're going to keep it forever, and hand-it-down to your grand kids, yes. If it's basic transportation and you'll move-it-on in a couple of years, no. Or, if you live where there's a REAL winter, use synthetic in the winter and conventional in the summer. When I used to live in Cleveland, that's what I did.
NO, you do not
No you don't need it. Conventional motor oil is fine. It came from the factory with conventional motor oil.
- Do some people really care that much about driving a really nice car? My dad is perfectly okay with his 1992 Ford Taurus with 210,000 miles on it, no heat (he lives in Chicago btw), no A/C, and a f::::ked up passenger side door. He's not poor by any means, he's a CFO of a bank. He just says that driving that P. Builds character and he only cares about having a car that can take him from point A to point B.
- 2000 ford taurus, is really hard to start, when it does start it idles really rough? 2000 ford taurus, is really hard to start, when it does start it idles really rough until completely warm, we replaced 4 coils and at first it helped but has returned just as bad.
- 2016 Ford Mustang Or Chevy Camaro 2016? Which one is overall better. Which one looks better? I can afford a v8 but I don't want to fill up my gas tank every 3 days because I drive far. Which one do you like the look of more?
- What type of full synthetic oil to put in 2005 ford focus? I have a 2005 ford focus ST zx4 and need to add oil, this is the first time adding oil since I bought the car. All I know is that the previous owner used full synthetic. I have to add just about a quarter of oil until an oil change in a few weeks. I have heard that full synthetic 5w-30 or 5w-40 is good but no lower than 5w-30 or I can take the chance of blowing up my car… Any thoughts on this?
