How reliable is Ford's relatively new ecoboost 1.0L engine?
Does anyone have a newer Fiesta or Focus with this engine? Is it dependable thus far? Any big problems of note?
I know several.people with these.
They all say the sane thing. They recon the car runs on fresh air.
They all love their cars.
Haven't heard of any problems yet…
There's a lot of information online, concerning poor fuel economy and reports of the 3.5 Liter V6 Ecoboost motors, suddenly going into "limp mode", when the charged air cooler builds up humidity. Sometimes, that humidity can get sucked into the engine. When this occurs, computers in the truck will restrict engine performance, to negate damage from occurring. Unfortunately, this "limp mode" can often occur at the worst times, like trying to pass another vehicle or merging onto freeways. I haven't read anything about the smaller Ecoboost engines having these problems. You might want to research that.
I have read some complaints about the newer, dual clutch transmissions, like John Alden mentioned in his reply. I also have a co-worker, who complained that his wife's new Focus or Fiesta has been in the shop many times, with dual clutch transmission problems.
I don't talk to him that often and our conversation was many months ago. But, I believe he said their new car was an Ecoboost Fiesta. The way I remember the conversation, he said the car ran great and he was kicking himself for letting his wife talk him into getting an automatic trans. I think they previously owned a manual shift Focus and they got many happy miles out of it.
My 2012 Mustang is my first Ford, but I do a lot of reading about Fords. They seem to have hit and miss success with both their manual and automatic transmissions. You need to approach Ford on a model by model, option by option basis and do your research. I read about many problems with the newer Mustang manual transmissions, when I bought my car. But, the auto transmission had been used for many years on other Ford models, with great success. So, I bought my Mustang with an auto trans and it's been a fine transmission, for 65,000 miles.
- Why is the new Ford GT being powered by an ecoboost V6? Why not a V8 to continue it's roots? I thought the exclusive 5.8 Trinity would be perfect for this.
- Why ford ecoboost in everything? Why the hell is ford sticking ecoboosts into everything, i understand it ks a very good engine because it is fuel efficient and makes a decent amount of power, but really? Ecoboosts in a ford gt? What is your opinion in this engine
- 2015 Ford Mustang Fastback V6 or the 2015 Ford mustang 2.3L ecoboost? I'm trying to decide which of the two to get I heard online the eco boost is surprisingly a little faster then the V6 edition. it gets roughly 4 more MPG then the V6. the ecoboost will be about 1500 more then the V6 fast back lets assume its going to be my main vehicle. which one should I get and why? And which is superior? Your thoughts please. I'm not a gearhead so don't get too technical on me without using things I'll understand lol
- Is Ford switching all their vehicles into ecoboost engines? Why is Ford heavily advertising their Ecoboost engines a lot? I know is suppose to boost up fuel economy and horsepower but they taking out V8 engines. Other Auto companies they refine their V8s and make them fuel efficient or at least increase mpg. Ford is like ditching V8 and put V6 twin turbo to solve their problem quickly to me. Anyone agree?
