Do i need to register that my car has alloys on my insurance?
I know that in theory yes but do i still need to if i put ford alloys on my fiesta even though they arent stock to that model?
Cheers
A reasonably logical and intelligent person would simply call their insurance company and ask.
In the uk if they were not standard I would. They don't need much of an excuse to dismiss your claim
No, but if you don't and they are destroyed they will be replaced with stock.
No you do not
UK answer as the yanks are lost.
YES you must declare all modifications. Failure to do so may find they decline a claim completely as you have not declared them.
It depends on your policy. Every company is different. It'll say how much they will cover of "undeclared modifications". Some insurance companies will cover up to $100, others up to $1000. You can either check your policy or call the insurance and ask. They most likely do not add significant value to the vehicle or cost a lot more than the stock wheels.
You don't have to tell your insurance you're putting them on, just ask if you would have to declare them if you were to purchase and install them.
Mr. Bilbo, how do you expect anyone to know this? If you have an insurance question, may I ask, why is your mind not directing you to speak with your insurance agent or company representative? Auto insurance policies are custom made for each client. You also live somewhere on planet Earth and this is a personal issue. Also, please capitalize the pronoun, I, always, as well as the proper name of companies such as Ford. Lastly, please punctuate all sentences to include one word ones. Cheers.
If you want them insured, then Yes of course. It doesn't matter if they were standard on another car, If they didn't come standard on your car it is a modification (of your car). My advice? To be certain, ask your insurance company… Why wouldn't you?
It is modifications, not 'mods'.
Grammar matters
- Why doesn't car manufacturers provide their own car insurance? I always ask myself this question. Why doesn't the Ford, Chevrolet, Mercedes Benz, Toyota, Nissan, and more provide their own car insurance? It's doesn't make a lot of sense to leave the insurance duties to companies that knows little to nothing about cars. Plus, Insurance would be cheaper. Sick and tired of getting RIP off by the Geico, and State farms of the world. What do you people think?
- If you have a car accident with a borrowed car, whose insurance are you covered by? Okay, my dad just totaled my grandma's 1999 Ford Taurus wagon. He was trying to turn and we hit a Nissan Frontier. The Nissan was fine, but the Ford is totaled, and my dad has never been in accident like this ever before. Does this go under my dad's insurance or my grandma's? She did give him the permission to drive it.
- I need insurance for cheap, basically just to be legally driving. Options? I live in California, I will be traveling up north toward Santa Cruz, Humboldt, and eventually Oregon. I just need to state that I do have insurance in case I get pulled over. I'll be driving a van, most likely a stock ford econoline around the 90s.
- How would I register a care that's missing all of it's paperwork? My Uncle gave me his 1967 Ford Custom 500. We've restored it and it's like new. The only issue is putting the car in my name and registering it. It hasn't been registered since 1980 and we have none of the paperwork for it. It's been missing for years. We live in California (if that matters). What do I need to do to register this car?
