Like puddles of gas I think if its the 5.4 it is direct injected which may be a cause But is it just the smell or liquid fuel thats accumulated in the air box if the filter is wet then take it to a shop as soon as possible is it misfiring too I can go into a few causes but honestly since its a fuel related issue your best bet is to take it to a shop as soon as possible
Hi as cars get older and need to be serviced by a dealer otherwise some do make mistakes with things and a blowback would put fuel into the air filter.
We talking a little gas or the filter is soaked in it. A little as a car ages is fine. Just means it is running a lil off. Tune it up. A lot of gas it is soaking in it. You have problems.
- On my 2000 ford mustang why does my air pump (smog pump) only blow air for 5 seconds after start up? Is that normal? I have p0411 secondary air injection system insufficient flow detected. I've checked the hose that comes out from the pump, it's blowing air but I believe it should blow air for much longer than 5 seconds on start up.

The distributer was not removed and the plug wires and spark plugs are right, baterey is good. What did we do wrong? Why will it not start?
