Service Info missing from carfax?

I'm looking to buy a F150, and I found a nice 2008 F150. The dealership provided a free carfax. In the carfax, there were 2 owners. During the Owners history, you can see the oil change services that happen on a normal basis. But for the second owner's history, it shows one or two oil change services and a bunch of registration reports. The carfax states it was guaranteed by both owners there was no accidents, floods, structural damage, etc. The only thing that stands out to me is they replaced a rear wheel bearing seal during the second ownership, bed that was fixed at a Ford dealership. The truck has 105,000 miles, its a 2008, first owner was corporate, second owner was personal, first owner drove it for 20,500 miles and had it for 3 years, second owner drove it for 84,500 miles and had it for 4.75 years. I'm going to look at it in person, but from the pictures (a lot of pictures) the exterior and interior are in great condition. The engin compartment doesn't look too bad, can really tell from one picture. I showed it to my dad (has more car buying experience than me) said its a really nice truck, but he was the one who pointed out the missing service history from owner 2. But he does think I should buy it.

Heres the carfax link: http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/p/Report.cfx?vin=1FTPW14V48FA12718&csearch=0&partner=GAZ_0

It looks like it just drove off the lot, not color matching issues, which is a little scary. But can I get other's 2 cents on what they think?

The second owner may have changed his own oil.

Don't get all excited about a vehicle that looks good in pictures. It's quite easy for a professional detailer to make the worst piece of junk look good from the outside.

105,000 miles on a 2008 pickup is not out of line for mileage, and there's nothing in the Carfax report that shouts any kind of warnings, but you should still have your own independent mechanic inspect the vehicle to look for any problems or signs of damage that could give you problems later on.

He either changed his own oil or had a independent shop do it which usually doesn't make reports to CarMax.

You can't presume the one without the records was neglected. They might have changed their oil or had it done somewhere that doesn't report it. Lots of those places out there.

Carfax is of limited value really. It makes stupid people think they are smart.

My brother incorrectly thought the carfax meant his car didn't have paint work.

A simple going over the car carefully would have shown him the cheap paint work on the passenger side door that carfax didn't show.

You're quickly realizing the problem with Carfax. It hardly ever tells the whole story. Nothing beats a personal inspection by a certified mechanic. It may cost you $100… And it may save you thousands in potential mistakes.
