Is there any other vehicle I can get a steering column out of for my truck?
It's a 1988 ford f150 xlt lariat 2wd with the 5.0 engine and AOD and I know it has to have those 2 things but i'm not sure about the 2wd or if It can come out of a 4wd truck or not so that s one thing I need to know, and also are there any cars that I could get one out of? Seems that particular body style (87-91) F-150 is about as scarce as hen's teeth around here and I want to get a column to rebuild because just about every part in mine is worn out and can't catch up with my mechanic to ask him if other columns will work so I figured I'd ask you guys and see what I can come up with. I need to get one to rebuild because I can't afford all of the parts at once so I wanted to get them over the course of a couple months… Hope this makes sense. I've asked this question before but didn't get a straight answer so I need to know specific makes and models that will work Thanks in advance.
Not sure what's wrong with the column but there are kits for rebuilding them. I like Rock Auto as their site is easy to use and their prices are really good as well.

A 1987 to 1991 Ford F150 & 250 will for sure work. The 1992 to 1997 probably will work. Makes no difference what trim or if it is 2wd or 4wd. More than likely there are other years that will also work. Any auto salvage yard can tell you what will work.
- What is the switch on the bottom side of steering column on a 1979 Ford E250 Econline Van? My van will not shift into reverse or park and will not start. I have replaced the neutral safety switch, checked the shift cable and shift cylinder on the steering column. While doing that is see a sliding electrical switch on the bottom of the steering column which works in conjunction with the shift lever. What does this switch do?
- If my power steering pump and pulley break, is there any other parts I may have to potentially replace? Last night when I was driving, my power steering pump busted and also broke my power steering pulley. I have a 2002 ford Taurus. In the process of the pulley breaking off, the serpentine belt came off. It is still on the car so I just have to re position it once the new pulley is on. My question is through this incident, could anything else have broken? I just did a bypass pulley for the AC compressor last week. And I also replaced the serpentine belt last week.
- Why is my 1995 Ford Ranger steering column loose? In recent years, I noticed that my steering column would make a slight popping sound and, it can be moved up when pushed about 1/4 inch. It has not adjustment and, I feel that something has worn out. Does anybody know which part I need to replace?
