I have a 2006 ford f150 and the 4x4 doesn't work?

Ok my 4x4 will not work. When in neutral and foot on brake I switch the nob on the dash to 4 lo, I hear a click from the T-case and the 4 lo light on the dash comes on and it feels like its in 4 lo but the front wheels do not turn, when trying to put in 4 hi I hear a click fron the T-case but the 4 Hi light on the dash blinks once and doesn't stay on. I believe the shift motor on the T-case is working bc I can hear it switching when I turn the nob on the dash.i've read about the acuators on these trucks and the selonoid that is behind the battery I'm wondering if this is my problem. Has anyone had the same problem with their 4x4 like this? I also hear a clicking noise from the front wheels while in 2 wheel drive. Any help would be appreciated.

Does it have manual locking hubs in front? Those need to be turned 360o to lock.

That's why I don't drive any of these electrically activated 4X4 garbage. Give me a mechanical lever where I can FEEL when it's engaged every time!
Has it ALWAYS been like this or just started happening? ( as usual important info missing)
