Does acetone increase gas mileage?
I've been trying to convince my dad to get buy me this 2004 Ford F-150 XLT with 5.4L V8. I really like this truck because the 5.4 produces 300 HP and my crush really likes F-150s. The reason my dad won't buy is because it gets 13 city and 16 highway. So i was wondering if acetone really does increase gas mileage and also without harming the engine. SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY Please

No, it does not. Besides the hard data of the sources, consider the logic… If small amounts of acetone improved fuel economy, why is it still on the fringe? Oil companies would welcome anything that gave them such an edge, and the EPA was all fired up about oxygenation but not about adding acetone. It makes no sense at all.
It may eat away at the rubber gaskets and plastic tubing of a vehicle's engine.
