Can mudding mess up your transmission?
I took my 2004 ford f150 extended cab mudding… Took it through some deep ruts and bottomed out twice… I got yanked out by a bigger truck and my truck started showing a "TRANS FAULT" message… There's mud caked on under my truck, it is driving okay but I did notice that it is taking a little bit longer to get going and when it starts going, it kicks hard like I juts pressed the gas really hard. Will I need a new transmission?
I would first clean off the mud underneath to make sure it is wedged against something. I have seen that happen. Clean it up first & yes to your question, if you like to slam in it drive & then back into reverse rocking it is extremely harsh on a transmission
Ok first of you have to make it into a mud truck (lift, bigger tires, different axels… Ect) second off yes you will have to get a new transmission
Vehicles tend to break when you beat them. There's a reason people build up mud specific trucks with beefed up… Everything.
Bring it in and see what you did to it.
Best get it to the tranny shop, you could've damaged it with the pull if it was in gear.
