1990 Ford F-150 won't start?

I'm looking at a 1990 f150 with the dual tanks and has an 4.9l inline 6. The guy said he replaced the radiator, distributer, water pump, fuel pump, starter, plugs, and injectors. He said last time he drove it he said it wouldn't start. But the motor will turn over. He said the starter quit working but he has a warranty on that and the distributer if those are causing the problem. He wants 1500 for it but I don't want to get it and it ends up being a 500 dollar repair. I read somewhere in a forum someone who had a similar issue and it ended up being the fuel tank selector switch. I want someone's input on what it might be?! Any help is appreciated thanks!

Hi as it is a 24 year old car leave it well alone.

  • Why did my car start and die when put into gear? Now it won't start at all? It's a cold winter day (below zero) Car started right up! I let it run for about 2 minutes, I put it in gear and it just died. I figured it's cold out, not real surprising, but when I tried to start it again, it won't start! Turns over fine but engie won't start! Any ideas? 2003 Ford Taurus 3.0L
  • Ford F-150 Truck started, ran rough. Now won't start at all. Any ideas? 1977 Ford F-150 with carburetor, 8 cylinders. After several attempts, it started immediately (without the usual starter crank-up sound), ran loud & rough like a lawnmower. I turned it off, now it won't start. Starter is strong, battery full, airfilter good, fresh fuel is reaching the carb. Weather is hot and slightly humid. Anyone have a guess?
  • Ford 2001 F-150 XLT won't start with new battery? A few days ago I learned my battery was bad so I bought a new one. I installed it and suddenly my truck won't start. I had been able to jump it with the old battery but now it won't even do that. It will crank but will not start. I have checked the inertia switch which was pressed down. I don't have the equipment to check the fuel pump or the pressure in the line. Is there anything else I can check on before I have it towed and pay a bunch of money to a mechanic to look at it?
  • 1991 Ford F-150 cranks but won't start? Battery got hooked up backwards, this is what I've replaced so far; Solenoid, Starter, Coil, Distrubutor cap, ICM, Spark plugs&Wires, Fuel Filter. I've tried using starting fluid and used a different battery and didn't make a difference, it cranks over but doesn't fire up so would the computer and pick up module need replaced? Any things I need to check or do to help solve the problem? I like to get it running soon.
