What generation Ford Explorer should I get?
I'm a 16 year old guy and I have decided that I want a Ford Explorer as my first car. What generation do I get? There are 5 generations. (1991-94, 1995-01, 2002-05, 2006-2010) Here's what I'm looking for.
-Reliability
-Long lasting
-Style
-Best driving in the snow
I graduate in 2016. I will have this truck through 4 years of college.
I agree, gen 2. Gen 1 is lighter, but really crude suspension. My 1998 has been dead reliable, except the stupid 4.0 intake gaskets. Awesome in the snow with decent tires. I only have Wranglers, and they are sweet in the snow. Real snow tires would be better. A 5.0 is a more reliable engine, but thirstier.
Well the 2nd generation was by far the most popular. Also with the top end limited version you get full time all wheel drive AND a low gear ratio for offroading. Really the reliability on any of them has more to do with the person who owned it before you than with the vehicle. All are reliable, the styling really did not change much over the life of the vehicle, (newest explorers excluded) personally i think that for styling the factory rims on the second generation always looked outstanding. And BECAUSE so many were sold you can find used parts absolutely anywhere,.
- Why is the younger generation so extreme to either side? There are so many people nowadays who are either hardened socialists or hardened white supremacists. They're both dumb. Moderation is best. Obama is best. Romney is best. Hillary Clinton is best. McCain is best. Bush (the older one) is best. Bill Clinton is best. Gerard Ford is best. **** that retard Trump or that crazy socialist Bernie.
- Should Sears and Ford HIRE Dotard McTiny as their CEO and get profitable again! If he can get Foreign Diplomats and American Lobbyists to? Pay $350.00/night to sleep in a tiny room in an old Post Office and keep it FULL and VERY PROFITABLE, don't you think that he could come up with an idea to save 40+ thousand American jobs?
- Is a face lift for a vehicle a new generation for a vehicle? I heard that in 1989 Ford Ranger received a facelift but was a new generation or just a minor update that did not change the complete model of the vehicle?
- Is a 1995 - 2001 second generation Ford Explorer dangerous or safe? No I have been reading that Ford Explorers will roll over even with good tires or bad tires (notably Firestone). Will the Ford Explorer rollover with tires made other than Firestone and is in a very safe or very dangerous unstable vehicle?
