Check the battery
Your battery sounds like it is dead. You can possibly jump start. Read your owners manual for the correct procedure for that. Once you get it started, it should keep on running once the cable are disconnected. If it doesn't you might have an alternator problem. If the vehicle keeps running, let it run for awhile (perhaps 1/2 hour) and then shut it off. If it starts again, you probably just ran down your battery by leaving the lights on or similar.
I did the battery is charged but when I turn the lights on that's when the dash lights come on in it still want come on
Battery, cables
Does the check engine light come on when you turn the key? Perhaps there's an important code to be read with a code reader.
Big Fords are famous for corroding the INSIDE of the positive ( red wire ) battery cable clamp. Pop that clamp off & clean both the INSIDE of the clamp and the sides of the battery post with a small piece of sand paper & see if that helps.
- 99 Ford ranger XLT base model. Park lights, dash lights, and license plates lights out I checked online and realized it was probably a fuse which it is. Fuse 11 in my power distribution box. The problem is I keep replacing at and soon as I turn on my lights it blows instantly. Have replaced it multiple times. So then I looked under my truck and disconnected the wiring to my taillights and replaced the fuse, it worked it didn't blow. Dash lights and license plates lights were on so I figured some where there's a problem with the brake lights. Any suggestions?
- 2001 Ford Ranger clicks once then won't turn over, and when key is turned off, it begins making a clicking relay noise under the dash? - 1 I've had this happen before, and the last couple times I just undid the battery and put it back in and it started right up. The battery has a charge, the alternator is new, and I tried jumping the battery just in case. So I know it's not that. I'm thinking it could be something in the ignition switch because sometimes I have to lift up on the shifter knob for it to register that it's in park and turn over. Any ideas?
- What could be causing turning lights to not always turn on? I have a 1999 Ford F150, owned it for about a year now, and recently (as in the past week) when I turn the indicator on, sometimes the lights won't flash. When they do work, the dash arrows flash and click like they re supposed to, but when they don't nothing happens. Hazards work fine. Just wondering if anyone might have a suggestion as to what needs to be replaced/repaired
- Car dash board - light - switch settings? I see that in my 2004 ford car, when i turn on my head lights. The indicators on dashboard like mileage, direction etc etc and even the time in my music player turn off. and when i turn off the head light switch, the above readings in the dasbboard shows offf. why is it that way. Or something wrong in my switch settings
