How many quarts of transmission fluid do i need in a 1996 ford explorer? - 1
2wd? 4wd? Automatic or manual?
Hi so the first question is what transmission system doe this truck have an automatic uses special oil which need stop be monitored when it is being filled by a diagnostics tester. So a makers dealer would be the best persons to do this task. Like wise with a manual stick transmission.
If you have the V8, then you have the 4R70W transmission. If you have a 2WD model then the capacity is 13.9 quarts. If you the V8 AWD model, then the capacity is 13.2 quarts
If you have the V6, then you have the 4R55E transmission. If you have a 2WD model then capacity is 9.5 quarts. If you have the V6 4WD model, then the capacity is 9.8 quarts
For a the manual you just have to check in the inspection hole manually, when transmission fluid starts coming out, it's full.
