On my 97 Ford Expedition is my overdrive always on and when to turn it off? - 1
Always keep it off (recommended) unless you are in: snowy conditions, VERY slippery roads, floods, and hauling a trailer. But if you want to get good mpg, keep it on for a short period of time.
Hi so why ask here ask a ford dealer.
The only time you would turn off overdrive is when you're towing or if the transmission is "hunting" between 3rd and 4th gear constantly (usually happens on roads with lots of elevation changes at 40-50 MPH). It's best to keep it on (default) at all other times. I assume you're talking about the little button that's at the end the gear shifter. When you push it and the yellow on the gear shift lever comes on, that means that overdrive (4th gear) has is locked out and the transmission will only operate in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear.
- My Ford Transit headlights turn on in off position and turn off in the on position? I'm a new driver, just passed my test. My van has some issue with the lights: namely, the lights turn off in the on position when the dash lights come on, and turn on when they are supposed to be off. This means that I'm driving at night without dash lights as I need to have the lights switched off in order for my headlights to be on. Might this be an electrical issue? Would anybody be able to give me advice and possibly know how much this costs to repair?
- Does anyone have a Ford Focus or a car with overdrive button? Need advice on the overdrive? Button! I'm confused. When I start my car, the overdrive [off] button goes off. Do I have to push the button on the gear shifter to turn it on? Or am I already in overdrive? I've read the manual and am still confused. I know that when I see overdrive off that it is off, but there's nothing to say it is on. Help! My question is even confusing, I know! Sorry!
- Ford fiesta warning stay on when I turn the electrics on but off when I turn the engine on. Explain? I have three warning lights which come on whilst the electrics are on not the engine. The engine oil level, I topped it up but it still shows. (Help) The indicator malfunction lamp, not sure what it means but it's on. And the ignition warning lamp which is a battery shape with a + and -. Can someone recommend what I do?
- What could be causing turning lights to not always turn on? I have a 1999 Ford F150, owned it for about a year now, and recently (as in the past week) when I turn the indicator on, sometimes the lights won't flash. When they do work, the dash arrows flash and click like they re supposed to, but when they don't nothing happens. Hazards work fine. Just wondering if anyone might have a suggestion as to what needs to be replaced/repaired
