Oil pressure gauge randomly drops & reads again?

I have 2000 Ford Expedition. We already changed the sensor on it. But the oil pressure gauge drops randomly while driving & then reads. Hasn't lost power & isn't knocking. Has fresh oil & filter.

Have a mechanic put an external sensor on it and make sure it isn't true oil pressure loss as it could be oil pump.

  • 2003 ford taurus ses sedan V6 3.0L OHV (vin U) oil pressure light? My cars oil light came on (red oil can). I changed the sensor for it. Do i have to go through the drive cycle for it to cut off? If so how long does that take? FYI: no codes show up for anything…
  • Oil pressure sensor not working? My oil pressure constantly reads nothing. I recently purchased a 2000 ford ranger with a 4.0L V6. Well, it constantly reads nothing on oil pressure. The motor has no knock and runs smooth… Do you think it is just the sensor? The oil pumps probably wouldn't be out would it? The truck has 170000 miles on it.
  • Oil gauge randomly drops to 0 and back to normal? 2001 ford ranger 90, xxx miles While driving my oil guage will randomly drop to 0 and my check guage light comes on, it only drops to 0 for maybe a couple of seconds and goes back to normal. When i'm accelerating and my rpms r high you can hear an irregular revving. I'm at a loss as to what this could be, and it does sound concerning as it is messing with my revving
