Will it hurt to go over by 400 miles on an oil change for a 2004 ford escape?

Hi why worry most do this all the time as long as it gets done with in 1000 miles and you keep the oil level topped up.

No not 400 miles however on an older vehicle it is best to change the oil on a routine regular schedule. Don't forget to change the oil filter

No, the oil change miles are a guide for worst conditions.

No. It won't make a scrap of difference. If you use fully synthetic oil at the change it will protect your car much better than standard oil.

Not if you've been changing it every 3,000 miles. If you really want to figure it out just pull the dipstick. The oil should never be black on the dipstick and you should also make sure you're not lower than 1/4th of a way down from the full mark. I just love all the people that think the oil change monitor is good enough to trust. It's just a sales ploy to make people think they don't need to change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles and all you end up doing when using the monitor is make sure the motor just makes it past the warranty time before breaking down!

It will only hurt oil merchandisers over time because you might buy several fewer quarts of oil.

3 thousand is a guide. If you are using synthetic oil you might go to 4 thousand for oil changes. If it is over 75 thousand, stay with 3 thousand between oil changes check the dip stick often, if the oil becomes black change it.
