Looking to get new tires for 2002 Ford Escape

Want a very quiet and smooth ride. Live in area with a lot of potholes and rain. We do have snow but last couple of years has been very mild. Mostly drive back roads and roads with a lot of lights so a lot of stop and go. I also have young kids so I'm looking for safety. The last thing I want is to get stuck in the middle of nowhere with children. Any suggestions

Check out 'General Altimax' series of tires. We have a set of Altimax HP's on our Malibu. Very smooth & quiet, excellent wet traction, and pretty good in the snow too.
The tread pattern is different but they work well.

The new April 2017 issue of Consumer Reports magazine has an entire section on recommended tires, based on their extensive testing and evaluations. The magazine should be in stores and newsstands in the next few days.

Does your 2002 Ford Escape come with 225/70R15 or 235/70R16 sized tires? Depending on which your choices will slightly vary.

Let's say you need the larger 235/70R16 sized tires. Within that size the Michelin Premier LTX and Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza Plus would be your best overall quality choices currently available.

Either would be ideal for the driving situation you have described. Smooth, comfortable, quiet and long lasting. Please be aware that with top quality you are going to have to pay a premium price.

If you need to try to keep costs down but still want a very good quality tire also consider the Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 or Firestone Destination A/T. Both are a bit more rugged and less smooth riding compared to the the Michelin or Bridgestone but their prices are very reasonable and they would deal with your back roads quite nicely.

  • Can 225/70R16 tires fit on rims that have 225/70r14 tires on them? I have 225/70r14 tires on my Ford ranger. I just got some 225/70r16 tires of the same brand, Cooper, given to me. Will they fit on the 225/70r14 rims or do I need to get rims to fit the 225/70r16.
  • I'm in high school and about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car So far I have looked into ford mustangs, I have a choice between a 2007 ford mustang gt with a 8 cylinder motor with automatic transmission, or I can get a 2013 mustang v6. My question is which of the two cars is a faster and louder car cause I would like to show it off and have heads turn by its engine as I drive off on the street. Thank you very much about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car?

  • How to get the seats in my car looking brand new again? I have a 2005 Ford Focus and the seats are a tan and you can clearly see little stains and even big ones. I want to know if there's an easy carpet cleaning fix I can do myself that's not so expensive or even if anyone knows a car wash or anywhere that does inside cleaning and making your car look like new again would be great!
