How to regain pressure in my car brakes after putting in new brake fluid?

I have a 2005 ford escape. The brakes on the car didn't seem to good and i finally lost pressure in the brakes. I refilled the brake fluid and pumped the brakes in hopes that i would regain pressure in the brake but i still have not gotten any pressure out of the brake. I have heard of something called bleeding the brakes but is there anyway to get the brakes to work without doing that. Could anyone tell what i can do to regain pressure in the brakes.

You have to BLEED the brake system after changing the fluid. If you don't know how to do that, then have your car TOWED to a REAL mechanic and pay to have the work done right the first time. DO NOT attempt to drive the car as it is because it will have NO BRAKES!

Heard of something called bleeding. OMG step away from the vehicle and tow it in.

If you ran low on fluid and got air into the brake system, then you HAVE to bleed them. Otherwise the air stays trapped in the brake lines between the booster and the slave cylinders on the wheels. Air compresses, so when you press the brake pedal, all that happens is the air in the line gets squeezed, and no force gets transferred down to the bake callipers, and so no brakes.

Bleeding is a procedure where you open a valve down by the brake callipers, and pump the brakes to move the fluid (and air) down the pipe and out into a catch container. You repeat a valve open / push pedal / close valve /release pedal sequence a number of times. Eventually the bubbles of air work though the system and get spat out the end. Now you have only fluid in the line and your brakes should work again.

The brakes need professional service. There are only two reasons it would need fluid: the pads are seriously worn or there's a leak. Adding fluid did not fix either of those, and neither will bleeding.
