Car surging problem on 02 SUV

I have replaced the Idle Air Control (IAC) and the throttle position sensor on my 02 Ford Escape XLT (3.0L) . However, it still surges and I'm unsure why? It will surge (literally trying to push the vehicle) when the car is just started and the engine is cold. This will happen only in drive. When parked in revs up. However, usually when it is warm (ran for some time), you can hear the engine revving up and down, up and down either in drive, park, reverse, etc. But, once the gas is actually touched in drives smooth regardless of when i started it or been driving for an hour on the highway. Any advice what you believe it to be? Also, I can't hear a vacuum leak of any kind and I get no error codes on a code reader. Another note, there's a small oil leak that I can't find (i don't believe this is the problem, however it may help). Finally, i'm starting to think of the EGR valve, but it doesn't seem to stick or cause any problems that typically occur with bad EGR valves. However anything helps!

It wouldn't hurt to change the fuel filter, which is a simple job on your Escape.

  • Car acceleration problem and idle problem. The car is a 2003 Ford Taurus? . When the car is running and in parked its making a loud consisted rev noise. However the rpm needle thingy is not moving. when i'm in drive the car acclerates on its own with the speed ever increasing. i did some googling and learned that it can be the TPS sensor or the idle air intake valve, among a million other possiblities.

  • Mazda cx5 ( suv crossover ) or normal car ( like a hatchback? I'm turning 18 next year and my parents are gonna buy me a car. Now I wanted a hatchback for a while. Thinking along the lines of a hyundai i20, ford fiesta etc. But I came to look at suv crossovers and decided on the 2014 mazda cx5. And while it sounds childish, the opinions of my friends do matter somewhat, with them saying I shouldnt get a big car right now ( even though it isn't that big). What should I choose?
  • Is the ford explorer SUV considered a low-income car or higher class? Aren't SUVs usually regarded as expensive cars?
