My check engine light is on?
Have my 1988 Ford F-250 the check engine light comes on when I turn the key to accessory but when I start the truck it's off, I don't know what this means, is it on or off?
It comes on with many other lights so you can check the bulbs are all working. You are supposed to check the correct lights light up so you know they will light up if needed. Completely normal - if you look closely, everytime you start the engine, many different warning lights will be displayed - oil, battery, check engine, etc etc and they turn off when the vehicle is started It's off. Don't multiple other lights come on at that position? Completely normal. The CEL is supposed to come on with the key on engine off to show the light works. If there are no faults or codes in the computer it turns off.

- Differential pressure switch causing check engine light? 1997 Ford Taurus. I don't remember the exact code but it said something was wrong with the upstream differential pressure sensor. The car doesn't run any differently. How do I fix it?
