Ford F350 6.4 white smoke, loss of coolant and stumbling?
My fiance has a 2008 Ford f350 6.4 with about 120k miles on it. Every trip, even on a 5 mile short trip, it shows "cleaning exhaust filter" on the dash. Had it cleaned by a mechanic while getting alternator changed a couple months ago. Now out of nowhere, the truck upon starting up starts spewing out heavy white smoke. It smells like regular exhaust, not sweet like coolant. However, the coolant is getting sucked up every few days or so, and sometimes the truck makes a high revving noise and starts to overheat. Adding coolant and/or water helps temporarily. Could this be a bad EGR valve? Maybe deleting the dpf regen cycle stuff would help? I'm hoping it's not a cracked head or anything. The oil has not been changed for a while and I know it's due for a change.
Blown head gasket. Rebuild.
- White smoke coming from exhaust, Ford Zetec 1999 petrol? I have no other problems with the car, it has 1/2 tank petrol, and oil. At first I thought it may be the cold but, it happens too often for that.
- 2002 ford taurus coolant bubbling out of coolant tank cap? Coolant is bubbling out of the tank cap on my taurus. The coolant is a bit over the fill to line. The coolant is the normal green color. I don't think it having a bit of extra coolant in the tank is doing this. The cap itself maybe? I just bought this car and it didn't do this until today.
