American vehicles in Sweden?

I noticed through pictures and videos, that Sweden has a love for modern American vehicles, like the Chevy Silverado, Dodge Ram, Ford Super Duty, as well as other American vehicles like the Chevy Tahoe, Ford Explorer, Ford E-Series, Chevy Express, Nissan Armada, Ford Expedition… I wonder why Sweden likes these big American cars.

Sweden is covered in snow for months so large 4WD vehicles are popular, they use chains much of the time outside towns

They need 4 wheel drives for the constant snow.

Hi Harvey in your dreams maybe they like cars that can cope with snow and ice best. TOYOTA and other japanese 4x4 ISUZU and HONDA as well as Mercedes and BMW which give less grief than SOME piece of american rubbish.

It's a culutural thing - after Second World War, Americans and US folk culture were very popular. Gangs in Sweden called themselves "raggare" and liked to drive big ol' American cars very slowly down main streets hoping to pick up girls ("ragga"). Of course this could only happen in summer.

That culture has never gone away, evn though those cars (and modern US cars) are useless in a Swedish winter.
