Car sputtering when giving it gas?

So my 1993 ford tempo 2.3 liter has a sputtering problem. It started when I was really low on gas one day, and it still does it. It happens usually only after driving for a couple minutes and will stop after awhile. Whenever it happens, I floor the gas pedal, and that helps for a short while. It happens usually after I'm idling, like sitting at a red light. Is it the fuel pump? Any filters? Transmission? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well you let some dirt from the bottom of the gas tank get in your system the carboretor has fine jets that shoot the gas a speck of dust can block them interfering with it's operation even stopping it a mechanic can clean them for you it is a complicated part not for DIY

I think you are trying to tie low gas to your problem. There are many things that can cause you problem. Vacuum leaks bad spark plugs or coil pack. How about getting that code read and start there.
PS: the pickup tube picks it's gas from the bottom of the tank why would it wait until your low on fuel to pick up the dirt?
