1994 bronco 9 inch rear end?

So I'm looking at 1994 ford bronco. It has a 9 inch rear on it and the owner said you have to manual shift it on the column cause it needs a speed sensor. I was wondering would this be a easy fix? I hear something about vss but I'm clueless on what it is. Any help is appreciated thanks!

Speed sensor malfunction would set the check engine light. Transmission problem is more likely. Before buying you should pay a mechanic to inspect this and give you an diagnosis and estimate. The transmission of this era in a ford are not electronically controlled. So the governor should create upshift.

  • Is my 9 inch rear end limited slip? I have a ford 9 inch in my 72 4x4 truck. When I jack it up and spin the driver's side wheel, the drive shaft turns but the passenger side wheel does not. If I turn the passenger side wheel, the drive shaft turns but the driver's side wheel does not. If I turn the drive shaft by hand, only the passenger side wheel turns. Since both wheels turn the drive shaft, does this mean I have posi? If so, why don't the wheels turn each other when I turn one?
